Winter's ended!

31/3/2021

The proof is that Tuesday saw the final event in the series of our Winter Tuesday Tournaments for GC Handicap players.

Though the series was considerably shortened because of lockdown restrictions, it was nevertheless a success. Here are the key points:
  • Four events were held
  • 24 different people took part, with priority given to those who had played in fewer events
  • Most entries came from HWCC and Phyllis Court, although other clubs were invited.
  • ~ £400 raised for club funds from entry fees
  • People observed Covid limitations sensibly
  • Using Richard Peperell's helpful guidance notes and whizzy spreadsheet,  Keith Toovey, Sharon Clark and Chris Webbley all learned how to run events, with each of us leading at least one.
  • Ian Shore kindly refereed some events
  • A photo of one event made the cover of the CA Gazette!

Best of all, the aims of the series were achieved: having fun in a competitive environment, meeting new people, and keeping skills fresh out of season.  Thanks go to all who helped and all the competitors, who played in a good spirit throughout, despite occasional -- OK, habitual! -- winter weather.
