The Kestrels and the Kites come in to land as summer ends

4/9/2022

Our two handicap teams Kites and Kestrels have now completed their summer competition in the SCF Advantage GC League.  This year, the League was divided into three not two as before, in order to accommodate extra clubs.  As a consequence, both our teams only had five matches to play instead of eight.  Every result therefore counted even more, as you will see.

Kites decided (not really!) that this summer’s fashion was an 8-8 draw, recording four of these plus one win.  Kestrels also won one of their matches and were lying mid-table until the very last match, won by Eynsham, who leapfrogged Kestrels — one of the more unlikely events in the natural world. Kestrels actually scored as many games as Eynsham and Blewbury, yet just one match made the difference.   Phyllis Court D won the division, with Kites in a good second place.

We would like to thank all the members of the two squads for their commitment and sporting spirit, all the management of home games,  all the lift-sharing, not to mention the cakes!

Kay (Kestrels captain) and Chris (Kites captain)."
