The EV 2023 competitions are reaching their peak

The summer season may be preparing to make its exit, but there are still some exciting days ahead.

David Cotton, for one, is going to be busy, with finals against Mike Porter in the EV1 AC Advanced Level Singles and Richard Coward in the EV2 AC Handicap Singles.

Richard can relax with one trophy already secured. Or half a trophy, maybe, as it is the EV3 AC Doubles prize that he has won with partner Robin Morrison.

Over on the GC side of things,  Nigel Moore won a very tight semifinal with Geoff Brook in the EV4 Advantage contest.  7-6, 2-7, 7-2 -- how does that work?!  He awaits the outcome of the other semifinal between Wendy Kingon and Mike West, currently poised at 4-3 to Wendy in the third game of a match so long that both players have had to go on holiday before resuming!

Richard Peperell and Ian Shore are also waiting to hear the result of the last match in the EV5 GC Level Play C Block between Alan Clark and Chris Roberts.  As is the Competition Manager,  poised to work out the best runner up in the three blocks once the dust has settled.

No dust flying around the EV6 GC Doubles final, though.  Sally Rogers and Pat Winning quietly held their nerve to bring home a win in the final, 7-6, 7-6.

Congratulations to the winners so far, and good luck to the remaining contestants.  And remember: summer may be on the way out, but the autumn tournaments are just waiting in the wings...
