With a nail-biting final between Catherine and Kay. The short day meant that tournament manager Keith Toovey set a time limit for the final round. 50 minutes in, they were tied at 6-6. Eight mind-stretching strokes later, they were still tied. So on they went until Catherine was just able to run the final hoop with a well-judged shot. Well done, both of them.
Well done, too, to the whole community who turned up, helped set up, observed the social distancing arrangements without demur, shared cheerful chat during any waiting periods and whisked all the kit away at the end. A special thankyou to Keith for running the day with friendly, calm authority.
These events resume on Tuesday 11 January. Four places plus one reserve are currently available -- let me know.
