New names for HWCC teams in 2023

31/3/2023

At the latest HWCC Committee meeting, it was proposed that all Club teams should follow the example of Kites and Kestrels and carry names rather than the anonymous 'B level', 'Open', 'Doubles' etc.  This would give a more recognisable Club style, improve team motivation, and appeal to potential new members.  The example of Rugby and IPL cricket teams was also quoted to support this.

The proposal was accepted and the following names will be used from the start of the new season:

GC Open team to be HW Antelopes

GC 'B level' team to be HW Badgers

GC Doubles team to be HW Two-Toed Sloths

The AC ' A' team to be the AC Cobras

An amendment to the effect of producing T shirts featuring the relevant creature was not carried on grounds of cost.

Expect these names to come into effect from the first day of the summer season.

Chris Webbley, for HWCC Committee

The Recreation Ground is on the A404.  If approaching from the north, travel 400m south from the Hazlemere double roundabout, slow down at Holy Trinity Church on your left and look for a small road on your right with Croquet Club and Recreation Ground signs. Coming from the south (High Wycombe) direction, we are about a kilometre north of the Royal Grammar School.
