Joint GC Low-handicap tournament at HWCC and Phyllis Court

The annual CA Tournament for those with GC handicaps of 0 and above was held over the weekend at High Wycombe and Phyllis Court. Entrants came from as far away as Australia (Steve Thornton) and Jonathan Isaacs (ex- Chairman of CA). It was jointly managed by Richard Peperell and Chris Roberts. Only one HWCC primary-club member took part, Richard Peperell, and although he had a mediocre day on the first day narrowly missing the 'cut', he had a cracking second day, winning all 7 matches, thereby winning the 'Plate'. Not bad for someone who last played his last competitive GC match in August last year!

(But on the other hand not surprising if he was the manager...? Surely not! Just not the HWCC way!)

Hazlemere Recreation Ground, Amersham Road, Hazlemere, Bucks, HP15 7QW

The Recreation Ground is on the A404 between High Wycombe and Amersham. If approaching from the north, travel 400m south from the Hazlemere double roundabout, slow down at Holy Trinity Church on your left and look for a small road on your right with a green and white Croquet Club and Recreation Ground signs. Coming from the south e.g., from the M40 or A40, take the A404 through the centre of High Wycombe. Pass the Royal Grammar School on your left and after one further mile look for the small road on your left with a green and white Croquet Club and Recreation Ground signs.
