For obvious reasons.
But, although the weather has not been our friend this autumn, forcing the cancellation of no fewer than four of our nine scheduled tournaments, we have still managed to put on some enjoyable days for people. As many as 29 different people have graced our lawns, with the majority coming from other clubs. A value-for-money £10 fee has helped our club funds.
Better still, we have helped HWCC sustain its reputation as a friendly, welcoming, efficient club. A couple of quotes:
"Thank you for arranging the tournaments. They’re always such fun and so well organised."
"I seem to be playing well at High Wycombe. I think partly the lawn gives me more confidence to play more confidently.”
"Thank you & your team for managing these events during the autumn. Much appreciated by everyone.”
And, looking to the future, we already have five bookings for the HWCC-only event on 28 February, designed to encourage new people to get a taste for tournament play. If you have not yet replied to my email of 6 December, please take a look.
Here's hoping for better weather in the New Year!
