Don't let yourself be in for the high jump

29/3/2023

Looking at today’s weather, it’s difficult to believe we are about to start our summer season of croquet.
As from this Saturday 1st April:
·        ‘Jumping’ will be allowed on our lawns. I intend to remove the sign in the shelter but I may not get around to it before Saturday in which case you are welcome to do it yourself and place in the loo. Thank you.
·        Please start your GC games from the ‘summer’ start box rather than the ‘winter’ start box – this means the red and blue topped hoops will need to be located in the summer positions.
Although jump shots will be allowed from 1st April, our lawns are still a bit soggy. So, please be very careful and refrain from playing jump shots until the lawns are less vulnerable to damage.

THE DO’S
  • Please repair lawn damage, either damage by you or damage by others.
  • Please do not let your mallet drop onto the lawn after making a stroke as that usually damages our lawns.
  • Please only practice your jump shots on the small patch of lawn adjacent to the loo and not on the lawns.

THE DONT’S
  • Please do not to walk off and leave any damage unrepaired.
  • Please do not to stamp on the damage without first repairing the damage with a lawn fork – plenty in clubhouse.

Thank you for being respectful to our lawns and to our groundsmen, Russell and Aaron.

Richard Peperell
Lawns Manager

The Recreation Ground is on the A404.  If approaching from the north, travel 400m south from the Hazlemere double roundabout, slow down at Holy Trinity Church on your left and look for a small road on your right with Croquet Club and Recreation Ground signs. Coming from the south (High Wycombe) direction, we are about a kilometre north of the Royal Grammar School.
