The GC C-Level Tournament at Ealing with eight entries in the handicap range 7-12 was held on a blistering hot day under a cloudless blue sky.  The heat was unrelenting and so was the play.  By the afternoon there were two contenders for the title and the final game of the day was stretching the patience of the tournament manager as the players equalised their scores at 6-all during the end of the 8-ball extension period.

What followed was  an extended duel at the 13th hoop.

Eventually the relieved tournament manager was able to award the winner the prize.

dramatic pause ...

drum roll please …

drum roll …

more drum roll …

even more drum roll …

“Our Catherine”!

Congratulations to Catherine Shore for a magnificent achievement winning all her seven games, including that very tense final game.  She now qualifies for the GC Bronze Merit Badge and a place in the National C-Level Finals at Ryde Croquet Croquet Club.

The Recreation Ground is on the A404 between High Wycombe and Amersham.  If approaching from the north, travel 400m south from the Hazlemere double roundabout, slow down at Holy Trinity Church on your left and look for a small road on your right with a green and white Croquet Club and Recreation Ground signs. Coming from the south e.g., from the M40  or A40, take the A404  through the centre of High Wycombe.  Pass the Royal Grammar School on your left and after one further mile look for the  small road on your left with a green and white Croquet Club and Recreation Ground signs.
