David wins the York White Rose tournament

The 2020 White Rose is an AC tournament at York. 12 players completed 32 games in the course of  two days, with no time-limits.  A suitably social yet Covid-compliant picnic marked the middle evening.
The lawns at York are flat, but heavy and patchy. The weather threatened but rain held off and there were no crises.  David beat Beatrice McGlen in one semi-final and Eugene Chang beat Callum Johnson in the other. David then beat Eugene +5 in a closely contested final, Eugene opting to lay up when faced with a long approach to 4-back with his second ball, and David hitting what he left.

David's win was all the sweeter as it was the first win by a Yorkshireman (after two years of Lancashire triumph!)

With grateful acknowledgement to Peter Thompson for his report on the CA website.  Chris Webbley

Chris this is a bit of a mistake, we don't need news about Yorkshire. Could we just restrict news to Bucks and Scotland!

Looks like we are going to have to-change the beer to Timothy Taiylor Landlord in celebration of a victory by a Yorkshireman!

The Recreation Ground is on the A404.  If approaching from the north, travel 400m south from the Hazlemere double roundabout, slow down at Holy Trinity Church on your left and look for a small road on your right with Croquet Club and Recreation Ground signs. Coming from the south (High Wycombe) direction, we are about a kilometre north of the Royal Grammar School.
