Crisp? Yes!  Winter? Yes!  Sunshine?  Yes!  Promise fulfilled, then!

Eight more hardy croquet players gathered on Saturday 4th to compete in the latest GC low handicap winter tournament.  By happy coincidence, the weather was just what had been promised in the invitation: "Crisp, winter sunshine."  Although some people might question the definition of crisp, with 5° of wind chill making the 'feels like'  temperature something more like freezing.

But, undeterred, the gallant eight played their two morning blocks, sustained by warm mince pies, home-made cake  and hot drinks.  After lunch, Rounds 4 and 5 brought winners and runners-up into competition to decide the final rankings. Peter Adams and Geoff Johnson both came through Round 4 with strong wins so were fancied finalists each aiming to win the prize of sparkling wine, rather ironically kept chilled in the fridge.  In the end, Geoff ran out the winner 7-4.

This completes the short pre-Christmas season of Low Handicap level play events.  Thirteen people have taken part, and we look forward to seeing some of them and perhaps some new faces when the events restart on 22 January.

(No weather condition promises this time, though...)
