Chairman overcomes barking dog in tense EV4 Final

 In the 2020 EV4 GC Handicap Competition, the finalists were high handicapper Nick Jones and low handicapper, Richard Peperell. The odds often favour the player with the extra turns, in Nick's case an extra six. In the first game, however, Richard beat the odds with some skilful ball positioning to win 7-3.

The second game was much closer. With the score 6-4 to Richard with a ball conveniently positioned in front of the hoop for a jump shot to win, nerves got the better of him and he missed. Now 6-5. At the next hoop, Richard was about to run a 3ft straight hoop when a nearby dog decided to go into a barking frenzy, adding to the general tension and specific nerves. He walked away, came back again, took aim and successfully ran the hoop to win the competition 7-5.

​"Chairman's luck again,"  was muttered by those watching!
