Dear members,
It’s getting near to our next Open Day, on Saturday 4th July from 10.30 to 5. This is great chance to invite your friends and family to come and try the game. Everyone is welcome. One thing that the last few months have shown is that croquet is a great antidote to the lockdown and the stresses of the pandemic. A fun game outdoors, stimulating to mind and body, and where you can easily social distance while still enjoying socialising. You know this, of course, so why not think of someone to introduce to the sport you enjoy? A few practicalities, that may help to answer questions that you or your friends may have. We will be observing the 2 metre social distancing rule throughout, and chairs for people to relax will be suitably spaced. All equipment including mallets will have been washed at the start of the day and each mallet will be cleaned before being used by another person. As you know, our loo and washbasin tap are touch-free, and cleaning materials will also be available there. Because the day takes place outdoors, face coverings are not required, though if anyone would feel more comfortable wearing one, that would be fine. For reasons of hygiene, there will be no catering on the day, but people are most welcome to bring their own food and drink to enjoy. Experience has shown that recruiting friends and family is the most effective way to recruit new members, and recruitment is an important part of maintaining the health of our club. So please do invite people you think might be interested to the event and help us build up the membership. Any questions, please contact me at [email protected] Thanks, Stephen Wright
