A whole day's competition decided by 2 net hoops!

At the latest winter tournament on 11 Feb, competition between the six entrants was friendly but fierce.  Only two  games went to 7-4, all the others ending closer.

All played all, and it was only when Rick Lilley beat Ron Carter in the final round that the destination of the prize bottle of bubbly was decided.

Before the show started, great help was provided by Richard Peperell, Raouf Allim, Keith Toovey and Martin Dock.  They all played a crucial part in assessing whether the lawns were going to be safely playable after the spell of very cold weather.  My thanks go to them.

One pleasant feature of this event was that no fewer than five clubs were represented amongst six players.  One player travelled from Warwick!.

The Recreation Ground is on the A404 between High Wycombe and Amersham.  If approaching from the north, travel 400m south from the Hazlemere double roundabout, slow down at Holy Trinity Church on your left and look for a small road on your right with a green and white Croquet Club and Recreation Ground signs. Coming from the south e.g., from the M40  or A40, take the A404  through the centre of High Wycombe.  Pass the Royal Grammar School on your left and after one further mile look for the  small road on your left with a green and white Croquet Club and Recreation Ground signs.
