A record Come and Try It weekend

Once the marketing and advertising has been done all we can do is set up the club to be smart and welcoming….
(thanks go to Barry Stanton for helping me re-paint the gate and wash the Welcome sign, and to all members who came early on the days to set up),
…then sit and wait to see if the weather will be kind and the public will come.

The weather was kind and the public came.   Record numbers on both days with 17 on the Saturday and 28 on the Sunday.

The half lawns were busy with singles and families trying croquet under the careful and friendly supervision of our member volunteers.

The refreshments were enjoyed by our guests and helpers alike with some of both coming back for seconds. Thanks to Carole Lawther for her excellent butterfly cakes that flew off the plate. Pun intended!

Four new members signed up on the spot and we currently have a further half dozen who have joined with a couple more expected.

This is vital to maintaining a vibrant and healthy club and I am sure you will all welcome them at roll-ups and guide them through their chosen, new sport.
