Who had the biggest change in handicaps in 2018 - and so merits the award of "Most Improved GC Player in 2018"? Well, you must wait for the Annual Dinner to learn that!
However the stats indicate that 14 people improved their handicaps, by an average of nearly 2 per person! As the handicap system is based on points being exchanged between winning and loser this indicates that we are playing a lot of other clubs, winning and taking their index points when we do so - congratulations!
For those into stats, the average (mean) handicap among our 56 active GC players was 6.25. The largest group (ten people) play off 7, and that is also the level for 'Mr / Mrs / Ms Halfway Up the List'.
Advertising interlude: To qualify for the Most Improved GC Player your card needs to have been checked by Ian Shore, as Club GC Handicapper, in the past year. Once again, I am offering a handicap card collection service at the Annual Dinner - subsequently placing the signed up cards in the clubhouse for collection. A great opportunity to start your qualification for next year’s award!
…and, by the way, do not forget to let me know when your handicap changes - so that your card can be signed up and the club website can be updated (you need to update the CA website).
